A Live Oak man was killed Saturday in a single-vehicle collision in Brooksville.
The crash occurred at 5:17 p.m. on Hayman Road, just west of Batten Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol believes a 56-year-old man was driving a 1998 Toyota Corolla east on Hayman Road when he drove off the road and onto the south grass shoulder.
The Corolla hit a concrete culvert and some shrubs before coming to a halt between a utility pole and a guide wire, troopers say.
The man died from his injuries at the scene of the crash.
The actions taken shortly after a car crash accident often have a drastic effect on the outcome of personal injury or wrongful death cases. There are certain steps that must be conducted in order to obtain a successful outcome, including preserving collision physical evidence, investigating the accident scene and wreck, and taking any witness statements.
Physical evidence, such as debris fields and skid marks, if available, should be evaluated by an accident re-constructionist as soon as possible. Photographs of the accident scene need to be taken as soon as possible after the accident. Witness statements should be taken right away in order to preserve crucial evidence.
